Anodized Aluminum Nameplates

An aluminum nameplate anodized means graphics are screen printed and sealed beneath the anodic layer for extra durability.  The aluminum is chemically treated to open the pores of the metal, at which time an anodyne dye is printed on the metal.  This dye actually penetrates the surface of the metal, and is then sealed into the aluminum in a chemical bath.  This produces a very weather-resistant plate that will give many years of service in outdoor environments.  Anodized aluminum nameplates provide exceptional resistance to corrosion, chemicals and solvents.  Anodized aluminum nameplates are a cost-effective alternative to Metal photo.

Benefits of Anodized Aluminum Nameplates

  • Excellent resistance to abrasion, chemicals, solvents, and extreme temperatures
  • Nameplates are fabricated to your exact specifications
  • Graphics are screen printed and sealed beneath the anodic layer for increased durability
  • Exterior life up to 10 years can be expected for black graphics
  • High performance adhesives/holes are available for mechanical attachment

An aluminum nameplate anodized increases corrosion resistance.  The process is called “anodizing” because the part to be treated forms the anode electrode of an electrical circuit. Anodizing increases corrosion resistance and wear resistance, and provides better adhesion for paint primers and glues than does bare metal. Anodic films can also be used for a number of cosmetic effects, either with thick porous coatings that can absorb dyes or with thin transparent coatings that add interference effects to reflected light.

Anodization changes the microscopic texture of the surface and changes the crystal structure of the metal near the surface. Thick coatings are normally porous, so a sealing process is often needed to achieve corrosion resistance. Anodized aluminum surfaces, for example, are harder than aluminum but have low to moderate wear resistance that can be improved with increasing thickness or by applying suitable sealing substances.
